The news became public knowledge when its executive director Joseph Collins basically told colleagues he was out of a job, according to PopEater. In an e-mail he wrote, "I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation has officially closed it doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events sic." As reported by The Boombox, although Kanye's name was on the foundation, he didn't fund it all by himself. The foundation filed taxes like a private charity and contacted corporations Kanye has done business with like Madison Square Garden. They donated $151,74!  Overall, the charity raised almost $500,000 each year.
