Kate Hudson's birthing experience to son Bingham 14 months ago was somewhat of an unusual one thanks to her quirky mother Goldie Hawn.

The Almost Famous star, 33, tells Ellen DeGeneres on her chat show Thursday that the New Age actress came to the delivery room with some curious gifts.

"I called my mom to tell her I'm in the hospital and in labor. And she was like, 'OK, well how much time do I have because I was going to take a swim,'" Kate recalled.

"I'm just like, 'Can you get here in an hour?' She shows up and I have not eaten in like 10 hours. She shows up with a pizza and Doritos! She's like, 'I'm starving!'"

And after chowing down on her snacks Goldie took charge of the situation in her own inimitable way.

"She wants to be in control of everything," Kate told Ellen. "She puts on these reading glasses that have headlights on them. So now my mom, I'm looking up. I have my doctor and my mom kind of looking over with these headlights."

But it was Goldie's prop and suggestion on how Kate should manage her pain that brought the giggles.

"She brings a magnolia flower. She brings this large magnolia," Kate shared. "And she starts to do these visualizations with me. She's going, 'Imagine your va-jay-jay as a large magnolia flower blossoming."

But the technique didn't work for the starlet who is also mother to eight-year-old son Ryder from her union to Chris Robinson that ended in 2007 after seven years of marriage.

"I'm like, 'Mom, I don't want to imagine anything on my body that big… ever!' I mean it was huge."

And her fiancé Matt Bellamy, frontman of British band Muse, didn't help matters either as he tried to film everything with a camera.

"I'm really in labor and I see like Matt crawling towards the thing setting up the flip camera to try and get the right angle on the birth," Kate said. "I was like, 'Stay back.' I put up tarps. I was like, 'Don't go anywhere near the area.' And I see him start to creep. I'm like, 'No, no, get back!"

"Meanwhile, my mom's going to the doctor, 'That's not normal, is that normal?' It really was a Woody Allen film!"

Kate and Matt are now in love with their healthy toddler but are not really focusing on tying the knot just yet.

"We don't really know," Kate said of wedding plans. "We're sort of going back and forth about, you know, is it a big wedding? Are we going to get married on a mountaintop? You know, we've both been so into having a baby and our life schedules. We just want to make sure it's right when it happens."
