Katy Perry Explains VMAs Romance: "People Feel Like They Can Be Themselves"

Katy Perry thinks there is something very romantic about the MTV Video Music Awards. After all, she did met her husband Russell Brand there!

Katy loves the VMAs.

"It's definitely just the funnest awards show of the whole gamut, of all the awards shows," the singer told MTV News.

And it certainly seems like the VMAs is always filled with surprise moments — including surprise hook ups!

Katy met Russell for the first time at the VMAs and this year Justin Bieber openly shared his love (and some kisses) with Selena Gomez.

Why does it seem like the VMAs is a good place for romance?

"People feel like they can be themselves," Katy explained. "So, if sparks fly creatively, I'm sure they're flying romantically as well."
