Exclusive: How to Build a Better Boy's Kelli Berglund On Why She Doesn't Think She Can Compete With Miley Cyrus
Could we have another High School Musical on our hands!? Disney XD star Kelli Berglund landed one of the lead roles in the next Disney Channel Original Movie, How To Build a Better Boy, and she told us that she wouldn't hate it if a future sequel eventually made it into movie theaters like HSM 3 did—and we wouldn't either! See what else Kelli had to say about the cute film, the Disney-like things she does in real life, and why she's got her eye on HSM vet Zac Efron and Liam Hemsworth...

OKMagazine.com: Lab Rats just got picked up for a fourth season. Is that surreal to you?
Kelli Berglund: It’s really exciting. It's weird to think, because if I was to go back to season one and get asked, "do you think you’ll get picked up for a fourth season" I’d be like no, probably not. Disney XD shows never get picked up for a fourth season except for Kickin’ It. But it’s been number one on the network and people love the show and it's cool that people get to make another season of it. It’s a blast, honestly. It's not work. It's just fun all the time.
OKMagazine.com: And next up for you is Disney Channel's new original move, How To Build a Better Boy. Did you freak out when you got the role?
KB: Sometimes I'm like, "Oh I'm in a Disney channel movie, that’s cool." But then I’m like, wait a minute, Xenon, High School Musical, all of those were Disney Channel movies. And I did one! It's so weird! What if they make How To Build a Better Boy 2, 3 and then it gets into theaters? That’d be great!

OKMagazine.com: China Anne McClain from ANT Farm plays your best friend in the film. How did you guys bond before you started shooting?
KB: Well, no matter who would’ve been cast as my best friend we would’ve made it work, but with China it's cool that I actually was friends with her. We took a shopping trip together in Canada, where we were shooting. We both are die-hard shopaholics and our moms like to shop too so we did this mother/daughter date of shopping. There's this one street in Toronto that’s full of shops and restaurants and we spent the whole day there and we’re trying on stuff, telling each other what we thought was cute…
OKMagazine.com: That sounds like a scene out of a Disney movie..
KB: Doesn’t it? But it was real life (laughs). It was so much fun though.
OKMagazine.com: Are you as tech savvy as your character is?
KB: She's probably 10 times more tech savvy than I am, but I've always been good with technology, it's kind of a thing. I did go to a technology magnet school when I was younger and instead of writing essays we had to do powerpoint presentations for our assignments. We'd have to create a calendar or type something in less than five minutes. So I was always on the computer. My parents would bring their phones to me when they first got it and be like, "can you show me how to do this? "

OKMagazine.com: The movie is about building the perfect boyfriend. What would yours have?
KB: Qualities? I always say that I'm not super picky on hair color or eye color, but having dark hair and bright eyes, ah. That’s super dreamy for me. Dark brown hair, bright green eyes…
OKMagazine.com: Like Zac Efron..
KB: Yeah, basically. Laughs. Those would be my two physical things. But I think someone who's like super loyal, super honest and lets me know how they feel, someone who's really funny. Not like annoying about it but just has a witty sense of humor.

OKMagazine.com: Which celebrity do you think has all those qualities?
KB: I mean, Zac Efron. You said it! A mix of Zac Efron, Harry Styles, Ian Somerhalder and like, David Beckham. That’s my boy right there. If only it can be real. I don’t know them personally so I'm hoping there's some good qualities that can go into this boy but if we’re talking physical here…
OKMagazine.com: Who do you want as your leading man in your next movie?
KB: I really like Liam Hemsworth. Is he too old for me? I’m 18 so it could work. Just to make me look a little bit older. He’s really talented and he’s super cute. I’m all about those accents. I‘d have no problem being right alongside Liam Hemsworth for a day. I don't know if I can follow that Miley Cyrus relationship though.
How To Build a Better Boy premieres tonight, August 15th at 8pm on Disney Channel! Watch the trailer here:
