Kirk Cameron Sounds Off to Piers Morgan on Anti-Gay Opinion; GLAAD Responds

Since discussing his anti-gay sentiments on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight on Friday, equal rights organization GLAAD has spoken out regarding actor Kirk Cameron’s statements.

"I think that it's - it's - it's unnatural. I think that it's - it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization,” the Growing Pains star originally explained his viewpoint on homosexuality to Piers.

Almost immediately after the interview went to air, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD Herndon Graddick released a statement in response to the teen star’s opinion.

“In this interview, Kirk Cameron sounds even more dated than his 1980s TV character!” Herndon remarked via GLAAD.

Kirk also explained that he is against gay marriage while chatting with the CNN host this week.

“Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don't think anyone else should either.”

Herndon’s response? “With an increasing number of states recognizing marriage equality, Americans are seeing that marriage is about committed couples who want to make a lifelong promise to take care of and be responsible for each other and that gay and lesbian couples need equal security and legal protections.”
