OK! NEWS: KRIS JENNER THANKS FANS FOR SUPPORT DURING KIM KARDASHIAN DIVORCE FROM KRIS HUMPHRIES
Kim Kardashian's spurned ex-husband, Kris Humphries, has just signed a two-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets for a plush $24 million — and his aborted marriage had a lot to do with it.
Kris was a largely unknown second-string forward when he hooked up with Kim in November 2010. But their wedding made him a household name, and Kim dumping him after only 72 days of marriage make Kris' every move, on or off the basketball court, news. That high profile, plus a good 2011-2012 season on the court, helped Kris secure the deal.
"Kris was getting $4 million a year before he met Kim," says a source. "Last year he got $8 million and now he's suddenly worth $12 million a year? Do the math."
Kim, 31, often treated Kris like a poor relation during their marriage, but his new contract puts him in the big leagues. (Kim, according to Forbes, earned $18 million last year.) Now his greater visibility could help him secure some lucrative endorsement deals of his own.
