A spokeswoman for Universal indicated, "The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise."

Apparently, it's a bit odd for a studio to drop a star in a big franchise between the first and second movie. According to insiders, Plan A was to make two films with the Snow White character and a third one for the Huntsman, but it looks like the studio has moved on to Plan B.
