The video tells the story of Lady Gaga's early career hardships and how she overcame them. The singer was eventually signed by Interscope and transformed into the successful pop singer that she is now.
"It was one of the worst days of my life and it happened quite quickly," Lady Gaga explained to MTV News of her new video. "But in my mind, when I think back on that period of my life, it all happened very slow," she explained. "It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life. I choose to tell you what happened. If you give up after something like that, you were never destined to be an entertainer.

"I love the obstacles," she added. "To marry your obstacles means I, the artist, wholeheartedly accept everything you throw at me. I am destined to struggle, I am destined to write music about the struggle, and I accept it willingly."
But the entire video isn't all serious, and the Mother Monster didn't intend it to be, adding, "It's meant to be comical." However, Lady Gaga adds that "in essence, it's insight into my entire creative process and the way that I view things."
