Leonardo DiCaprio is ending the year with a bang having made Forbes’ list of 2010’s Top-Grossing Actors. Not too shabby considering his movies have earned $1.1 billion in the global box office!
Leonardo’s films Shutter Island and Inception ranked in the top 15 highest-earning movies at the global box office; Inception ranked third with $825 million, according to Forbes.

Although he hasn't been nominated for any awards for these two movies, his bank accounts are certainly reaping the riches. Leonardo will rake in at least $50 million for Inception and that number will end up being even higher since the movie is now available for sale on DVD!
According to guidelines for the list of the top grossing actors, Forbes looked only at box office gross which is essentially earnings for top films of the year, and then credited each star the entire box office. So, in Leonardo’s case he got credit for acting in two big box office movies. Animated films weren’t included in the list since big names aren't usually the main reason why families are flocking to the films.

Although it's doubtful Leonardo will make the list again since his next film isn't due in theaters until 2012, for his next role he'll next appear on the big screen in J. Edgar, a biopic directed by Clint Eastwood about J. Edgar Hoover, focusing on his scandalous career and controversial private life.
