Feb. 9 2010, Published 11:21 a.m. ET
Turns out Lil Wayne will be getting a brief reprieve from his upcoming prison stay, as his formal sentencing has been delayed until March 2 due to dental surgery, his attorney announced today.
MTV News reports that the rapper arrived this afternoon in a Manhattan courtroom and sat quietly while his attorney explained that she had sent a notification to the city's District Attorney's Office revealing that Lil Wayne has a cracked tooth and therefore needed to see a dentist before serving his one-year term for weapons possession.

OK! NEWS: LIL WAYNE TO BE SENTENCED TODAY
The judge agreed that his dental problems would be better taken care of by Lil Wayne's own dentist, as opposed to the medical staff at Rikers Island. He'll get surgery on Feb. 12, according to the plan, and will need 7-10 days to recover.
