LINDSAY: "I FEEL LIKE THE IDIOT"
Aug. 3 2007, Published 6:00 a.m. ET
In an interview for the September issue of Elle, conducted the day before she ran her car up onto an L.A. curb and fled the scene, leaving behind a usable amount of what is believed to be cocaine, Lindsay Lohan was attempting to paint a more law-abiding self portrait.'I'm much more responsible than that, the young actress claimed, denying rumors that she had driven under the influence. I would not do that.' As for the media storm that follows her everywhere, Lindsay tells Elle's Holly Millea that the world's priorities are out of whack. 'I feel like the a--hole, the idiot, because I feel like I'm distracting from the other things that are important, like global warming and that kind of stuff. I genuinely mean that. And I don't know what to do.'But when asked why she continues to fan the flames of fame by frequenting known celebrity hangouts like The Ivy Restaurant, she replies, 'I can't go to a restaurant? I know I'm going to get pictures taken. I'm fine with it. And I'm going to go have their food.'Look for the new issue of Elle on newsstands Aug. 7.
