Michael Lohan tried to stage an intervention for troubled daughter Lindsay Lohan last week which backfired because the starlet denies falling off the wagon or needing help.
And after the cops were called during the melee, Lindsay considered filing to get a restraining order against her dad but has been warned it could make the situation worse, according to RadarOnline.

"Lindsay is being told by her lawyers that it's a disastrous idea for her to try and get a restraining order against her father, Michael Lohan," a source told the site.
"First of all, there is no guarantee that a judge would grant a restraining order against Michael. Michael did show up at her house and try and stage an intervention, because he believes that she is in immediate danger because of her alleged drug and alcohol addiction. That is hardly a form of harassment."

The insider added that if Lindsay were to petition for the order it would just make it a "never ending media cycle of stories about the Lohan family drama."
"For an actress trying to get her career back on track, this is not going to help her get future work and makes producers very leary to hire her."
Lindsay will then have to take part in a full hearing where Michael could take the stand and reveal "more information about his concerns about Lindsay that could further damage her," the source added.
Michael is also reportedly trying to put the Liz & Dick star under a conservatorship similar to the one that Britney Spears has stemming from her meltdown nearly five years ago.
