Mary Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Estranged Wife, Commits Suicide

Oh, the tragedy! The Kennedys have certainly endured more than their share of tragedies throughout the decades and the latest news this week is no exception. Mary Kennedy, estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has committed suicide.

According to The New York Post, Mary hanged herself at their estate yesterday in Mount Kisco, N.Y. An insider told the newspaper, "She was deeply troubled, abusing alcohol and prescription meds. She had cause. She was used up and tossed away by Bobby. That was awful.”

The 52-year-old left behind a note; none of her four children were home when the tragedy occurred. The couple tied the knot back in 1994, one month after his first marriage of 12 years had ended.
The family issued a statement: “We deeply regret the death of our beloved sister Mary, whose radiant and creative spirit will be sorely missed by those who loved her."
