Melissa headed over the Grand Central Station yesterday, National Breakfast Day, to launch the program and chat with some of the kids.

“It was great we were at Grand Central early in the morning serving breakfast to anybody that came through. I got to sit with some really great kids and have some delicious Kellogg’s breakfast, and I got to meet the deputy mayor,” Melissa tells OK!, “it’s a really great project, what there doing is really astounding. I didn’t know that one in four children in the US goes to school hungry in the morning, it’s wild.”

“My husband is a great cook, me, not so much. He makes animal shaped pancakes, spinach sausages, and eggs but when it’s with me it's like oatmeal and cereal. And in the morning it’s so hard its always such a rush to get out of the house” Melissa explains to OK!. “We try to make breakfast as soon as we get up and let the kids eat in their pajamas that way they don’t mess up their school clothes."

Aside from all of this, Melissa was elated to find out her ABC Family show Melissa & Joey will be returning with new episodes in June!

we’re having a great time doing it” she tells OK!.

And we didn’t forget about her awesome dancing skills she wowed the Dancing With The Stars stage with just a few seasons ago. So what does she suggest for the new contestants?

“Pace yourself! It's only a short time in your life but it seems long in the moment because it's basically every moment of everyday by being a politician by trying to round up votes or you're doing the radio interviews, or you're dancing or you'rer in a fitting; and it's seven days a week for 15 weeks if you make it all the way so you’ve got to be in a good mental state and take your time to go get your massages and have coffee with your friends and get something going in your life outside of the dance world.”
