Having made over 45 movies in her career and winning two Oscars, Meryl, 62, more than deserved her honor.
Former co-star Robert De Niro kicked off Meryl's tribute with a joke saying (via The Hollywood Reporter), "One factor keeping Meryl's average down is that she has to compete with Meryl Streep, including last year when her performance in Julie & Julia beat out her performance in It's Complicated," he said. "Meryl was so gracious in losing."
But that wasn't it for Meryl.

The Devil Wears Prada stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci joined Kevin Kline and gave Meryl as special musical tribute.
Emily spoke of her time working with Meryl, saying (via HitFix), "In every scene, she's actually doing at least two jobs. First, her own character, who is always so complete, so natural, you forget that somewhere in there is Meryl Streep. Then the second is, stabilizing the other actor who is having a nervous breakdown because they're in a scene with Meryl Streep."
