Struggling with unpaid taxes is not the best way to start a new year, but Nicolas Cage has no choice as the actor was charged for more debt according to new reports.
TMZ reports that Nicolas still owes $6,712,821.99 from a tax lien dating back to 2008 on top of another $6,617,550.84 for back taxes in years prior.
With a grand total of $13,330,372.83 waiting to be paid, Nicolas tells TMZ that, “Over the course of my career I have paid at least $70 million in taxes. Unfortunately, due to a recent legal situation, another approximate $14 million is owed to the IRS…”
Owing over $13 million to the government definitely showed Nicolas that he needed some more financial help.
“I am under new business management and am happy to say that I am current for 2009. All taxes will be paid including any to be determined state taxes,” the actor reports to TMZ.
But regardless of his recent payments, Sam Levin, Nicolas’ previous financial advisor, the National Treasure star was not responsible with his money.
