Sometimes love stories are better told in books, as Nicholas Sparks did so beautifully in his novel of the same name. A separated woman (Lane) and a lonely man (Gere) share a beach house for a few days and fall in love. It’s always hard to translate a novel onto the screen, and although Gere and Lane give it their best shot, it doesn’t do the trick.
