With a hit TV show, a happy marriage, healthy children and a new magical film, Enchanted, in theaters Nov. 21, Patrick Dempsey has a pretty charmed life — but he would never call it a fairy-tale. In the latest issue of OK!, the 41-year-old actor — husband to makeup artist Jillian Fink and dad to daughter Tallulah, 5, and twin sons Darby and Sullivan, 9 months — talks about why fairty-tales don't exist and why men have to be careful with women.

Are you the type of father who tells their daughter that

dreams will come true?

I think dreams can come true, but not necessarily like

fairy-tales. It’s not always so perfect like that. Things come at a cost and at

the end of the day, it’s not always completely satisfying. I think that’s the

interesting thing about this movie in that it sort of turns it all upside down

a little bit.

Do you remember ever getting your heart broken?

Absolutely. When you discover first love as a teenager,

your whole life revolves around it and you open yourself up to it. It’s so

glorious, but then reality hits and it doesn’t go as planned and every time you

turn on the radio, every bad romantic breakup song plays and you just sit there

and cry. I remember that feeling that, sure.

Do you ever think about quitting acting and pursuing the

other love of your life, race car driving, full time?

No, I’m not fast enough. My wife was the one who

encouraged me to take it up, and I felt like saying, you have no idea what you

just started. I love the sport. Paul Newman committed to it and didn’t take any

movies there for a while, but I can’t afford to do that.

How many cars are in your collection?

I have seven right now, but I drive them all. I probably

spend far too much on them, but not as much as Jay Leno!

Are you afraid of women sometimes?

Yes and no. You have to be very careful with women,

certainly the two that are in my house! laughs Women are wonderful. I grew up

in a house full of women. I have two older sisters and my mum who is a very

strong woman. My sisters used to beat me up a lot. I was a pain in the ass. I

used to tease them a lot.
