Miranda Kerr was a proud girlfriend as she stood by the side of her graduate fiancé Orlando Bloom on Tuesday. The actor was the proud recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Kent.

Orlando joined over 340 graduates in his home city at Canterbury Cathedral, dressed in his cap and gown, the Press Association reports.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star had the support of his fiancée, mother Sonia Copeland Bloom, father Colin Stone and his sister Samantha Bloom.

"It's a really big deal," Orlando said. "It's an exciting day for me. I'm really honored to be back in my home town. I have so many amazing memories of the cathedral and Canterbury."

"I have lived near the university so it's like my playground," he added. "It's a huge, huge honor and I feel chuffed, as does my mother — nobody more than my mother."

The actor missed his graduation ceremony for his degree from London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama due to filming Lord of the Rings.

He finally had his day!
