Our Initial Thoughts on Miley Cyrus' New Single, "We Can't Stop"
Let's take a minute right now to ignore whatever is happening with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement. Instead, let's focus on the music. Her new song, "We Can't Stop," has been talked about on the internet (and teased at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards) and as promised, she released the song on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning. Here's what I'm thinking of the song, which has been out for like a minute and which I've already played approximately 8 times over.

Firstly, it's really catchy. The bridge where it goes "la da di da di" is already stuck in my head hardcore, so thanks for that, Miley. I also feel like I already know the lyrics, which is either a good thing or not a good thing.
And clearly, this is a fresh sound for Miley. No more Hannah Montana "Best of Both Worlds" (which I may or may not have listened to on shuffle on the subway this morning). I also like this song better than those of the "Can't Be Tamed" era. I dunno, this just feels different and new.

And also, the cover art has a red solo cup on it and reminds me of college, which is weird because all of Miley's previous songs (with the exception of her other new single, "Ashtrays and Heartbreaks," with Snoop Lion), remind me of middle school.
