Penn Badgley Beats Out Robert Pattinson for Jeff Buckley Role!

Penn Badgley has reportedly beat out Robert Pattinson for the role of Jeff Buckley in an upcoming biopic.

We love Penn, but have to admit we're so disappointed for Rob!

The New York Daily News reports that the coveted role went to the Gossip Girl star over Rob and James Franco, who was also said to be in consideration.

Rob apparently wanted the role so badly that he even met Jeff's mother, Mary Guibert, and got her approval.

"Robert is a fine young actor," she said. "I'm flattered he's been linked to this project."

But apparently Penn was a better fit for the role.

Although Rob can play guitar and sing, Penn's vocals were reportedly a closer match to Jeff's.
