
Pete Wentz Defends Jess's Weight Gain

It seems like the entire Simpson clan is rallying to Jessica Simpson's defense since pictures of her looking a bit on the plump side hit gossip blogs.

Now, Jess's brother-in-law, Pete Wentz, who is in Tampa, Florida, to perform at Tampa's NFL Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Bash, is speaking up on her behalf, telling Extra that the media scrutiny over Simpson's figure is uncalled for.

"I think the media puts too harsh of a spotlight on women in general and I think it's a bummer," he says in the interview. "It's bad for young women. I see it affecting young girls who come to our shows and that's a bummer."
And even though his wife, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, is a stunner, Pete says that's not what it's all about.
"Real beauty is on the inside, man," he says.
