Project Runway moves to Lifetime

Project Runway is sashaying its way over to a new network! Beginning November 2008 with season six, the hit series that features designers competing to show their fashionable wares during New York’s Fashion Week will air on the women-oriented network Lifetime, the network announced earlier today. Project Runway host Heidi Klum and designer mentor Tim Gunn have both signed on to the show's new catwalk, but negotiations are still underway for resident judges, designer Michael Kors and Elle magazine's Nina Garcia.
Season five of the series is still in pre-production at Bravo, according to sources close to the project. The network filed a lawsuit this morning against Project Runway's production company, the Weinstein Company, stating that "NBC Universal has continuing legal rights related to Project Runway, including a right of first refusal to future cycles of the series, which the Weinstein Company unfortunately has refused to honor. NBC Universal regrettably had no alternative but to bring legal action to enforce its rights to this program, including the right to decide whether it is in the best interest of the company to continue to air the show under the proposed financial terms.
