It looks like being a reality TV star has only exasperated a long-standing family feud.

Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Melissa Gorga, Teresa Giudice and Kathy Wakile were scheduled to appear on The View this morning, and sat down to pre-tape the show on Wednesday.

Melissa, who is married to Teresa's brother Joe, and Teresa are tangled in a nasty feud stemming back from the day Melissa and Joe got married. For those of you naysayers who assume a huge portion of the cat fights on the Bravo franchise are scripted, you can rest easy — the New Jersey's squabbling is as real as it gets. The two women haven't talked since September of 2011.

"The producers on The View asked Teresa if she would try to resolve her issues with Melissa, together, on the show in front of the cameras," a source told RadarOnline.com. "But Teresa said she didn't feel she should do so in front of an audience."

The show allowed them to tape separately, fearing the stage would morph into an unsightly battlefield of Italian screaming (like the show), but that didn't really end the ugliness. In fact, Teresa made such a good case she found an unlikely pal in Whoopi Goldberg.

"Whoopi was shocked by what Teresa told her about Melissa's behavior towards her in particular and in turn didn't want to return to  the stage to listen to Melissa bad mouth Teresa," said the source. "Elizabeth sympathized with Teresa too about what she has endured, off camera during the break."

The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs on Bravo Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
