It’s a big day for Christina Aguilera. Not only does the Grammy-winning singer turn 32, but she also begins leave from The Voice after tonight’s live finale.
“I will miss so much,” she tells me. “Wow — first, the coaches, as we have really become one large family. They are each so special to me and big brothers in every sense of the word.”
She adds, “Also the teams we create. The contestants are so real, so hungry and so open to learn. It really is a special experience. I am better for it, for sure, but in order for me to give to them, I do need to take a break — a moment to just do my own thing in order to bring so much back to them.”
During her hiatus, the dazzling diva will focus on her music career as Shakira takes her place in the big red chair. (Cee Lo Green is also departing; Usher will keep his seat warm.)
But first, it’s Christmastime.
“I do like to decorate the house for the holidays,” Christina says. “The holidays itself are my tradition. Decorations, a tree, and spending cozy time with close friends and family. It's a ‘must’ for me personally.”

Hm, what’s her favorite gift to give?
“Candles,” she says. “They are so great smelling and everyone likes them.”

She’s also looking forward to spending more time with son Max, 4, whose dad is ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
“I always say Max is my greatest song and having him has been the proudest moment of my life,” she says. “With every year, he grows and changes. He amazes me often.”
Catch Christina Aguilera on The Voice finale, which airs live tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Her album, Lotus, is out now.
