Red Carpet Confidential: ‘Girls’ Star Lena Dunham Defends Howard Stern

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham has chosen to take the high road when it comes to Howard Stern’s ugly remarks.
Even though the shock jock called her “a little fat girl who kind of looks like Jonah Hill” and likened her frequent nude scenes to rape, she has chosen to let it slide.
What does Lena make of the criticism?
“It’s so funny,” the good-natured and much-tattooed star, 26, says Wednesday at the Girls premiere held at NYU’s Skirball Center in NYC. “Someone told me ‘I heard Howard Stern on the radio, and he loves the show.’ I’m like ‘what? I listen every day.’ I think Howard Stern has really earned the right to freedom of speech.“

In the second season, which begins Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO, Lena admits she’ll be “less naked but also more naked.”
Hm, how does filming in the buff make her feel?
“Free!”
Luckily, her indie rocker boyfriend Jack Antonoff doesn’t seem to mind.
“He’s pretty comfortable,” the Big Apple native says. “I think he knows he’s, like, too well-behaved to be very interesting.”

What’s her awards-show day like?
“I’m going to try to sleep late, maybe I’ll go to SoulCycle and get some activity so I can feel like a constructive member of society, and then eat a delicious hamburger and put on my Spanx, and sit around until 10 p.m., and let other people touch my face.”
