“The best way to avoid getting sick is washing your hands regularly with soap and water whenever you've been touching a lot of surfaces in a public setting—think subway handles, doorknobs, and shaking hands,” the married former Bachelor tells me while promoting nasal spray Simply Saline, which treats cold and flu symptoms.

“Having said that, the only way you will actually catch a cold is if the virus is hanging out on your hands and you touch your face, primarily your eyes or nose, since that's how the virus enters your system.”

If that cold or flu has already taken hold, however, Travis recommends using Simply Saline.

“The nasal sprays are safe and effective for clearing out congestion, irritants, and allergens from your sinuses—basically anything that can make cold symptoms worse,” he says. “Most people get a cold and think they need antibiotics, but antibiotics are worthless for the common cold and have potentially serious side effects.”
