Red Carpet Confidential: Why Pauly D Ditched ‘The Great Gatsby’ Look

Just like Jordin Sparks’ now-you-see-them, now-you-don’t bangs, Pauly D’s Great Gatsby look was short-lived.

The Jersey Shore star, 32, shocked the world when he posted this dapper, refined look on Twitter Monday under #TheGreatDJGatsby.

By Thursday’s Remix Rocks The Rooftop With SK Energy event, though, he’s back to his signature blowout.

“What happened is I watched the movie The Great Gatsby, and I loved it,” he tells me during the event held at Hudson Terrace Rooftop in NYC. ”I loved the hairstyle. In my head, I was like ‘that’d be crazy if I just did that to shock the world.’ So I’m like ‘let me do it, and see what they would say.’”

The reaction was unprecedented.

“I did it, and everybody went crazy," he says. "That one picture created a lot of noise. Everybody was like ‘oh my God.’ People liked it, but some people missed it. They’re like ‘I miss the blowout’ or I like it. It was like 50/50 up in the air.”

He adds, “I only did it as a prank, because I’m the prank world champion. laughs”

Hm, didn’t he like it?

“No, I liked it, it was cool, but it’s not me," he  admits. "I like the blowout. It works. I don’t want to get rid of it just yet. I want to keep it for now.”

Of course, Pauly is willing to change his look for one thing: “A lot of money!”
