Ashley Benson is settling into life as a brunette just as she goes public with co-star James Franco for the first time during the Spring Breakers premiere held this week at the Arclight Hollywood.
The Pretty Little Liars star, 23, made the jump from blonde to a chestnut shade in February.
“I really like it,” she tells me during a Faviana fashion event in NYC. “I love it. I really do. I’ve never been anything but blonde. I was so bored, and I wanted a change, so I dyed my hair.”
According to Ashley, she just made the change for change’s sake—no reason at all.
Still, she’s surprised the change doesn’t provide more of a cover.
“I didn’t think people would recognize me, because they’ve been used to me with blonde hair, so I thought I could get away with going places more, but people were like ‘Ashley!’ laughs No, I definitely like it. It’s awesome.”

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, though.
“I was afraid to go brunette, to be honest, so I took it more of a lighter step. I got used to it for two days, so I’m like ‘OK, I really like it,’ so I went a tiny bit darker.”

Hm, would she ever pull a Miley Cyrus and go super-short?
“I have short hair,” she explains. “I have extensions in now, but I cut my hair for Spring Breakers, and that was the shortest it has ever been. I loved it, but I have extensions now. I would probably go back to short hair.”
