Rihanna Fires Back at Dutch Magazine Over Racial Slur; Editor Resigns

Oh, the power of the pen! And by that we actually mean Twitter. After Rihanna tweeted her thoughts about a distasteful Dutch magazine article which referred to her with a racial slur, the editor-in-chief, Eva Hoeke, abruptly resigned.

According to GossipCop, the mag went so far as to describe Rihanna's back side as "ghetto" and erroneously referred to her as Jamaican.  Although they issued a meek apology on Facebook by saying the piece was "intended as a joke...a bad joke, to say the least," Rihanna was less than pleased. She sent a tweet to Eva: "I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! Then she finished off by dropping the F bomb. "On behalf of my race, here are my two words for you...F**K YOU!!!" Well, that was apparently the ultimate icing on the cake as MTV reported their editor resigned, effective immediately. "I realize that my first reaction through Twitter, in which I indicated that it was a joke, has been an incomplete description of what me, and also the author of the article meant. The term 'n—abitch' came from America and we solely used it to describe a style of dress. Because of the enormous pressure through social media I was tempted to promise amendment regarding the language in future issues of Jackie. The statement continued, "Through the course of events, me and the publisher have concluded that my credibility is now affected, it is better for all parties if I quit my function as the editor-in-chief effective immediately." The magazine has actually invited Rihanna "to share her feelings and thoughts on the article in the next issue."
