Shannon Tavarez, a young Broadway star who lost her battle with leukemia yesterday, had the full support of Rihanna during her battle and the singer says she is now mourning the loss of her friend.

Shannon starred as Young Nala in Broadway's The Lion King and lost her fight against leukemia after an umbilical cord transplant in late August failed to save her.

During her battle, Rihanna was very vocal in trying to help save the the 11-year-old's life.
Rihanna Tweeted her reaction to the news today.
