Fresh off this Friday's release of the eccentric, David Cronenberg-directed, Cosmopolis, comes news that Rob has signed on to play T.E. Lawrence in the upcoming movie, Queen of the Desert.
Queen of the Desert centers around Gertrude Bell (played by Naomi Watts) who was a writer traveler, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché for the British at the turn of the century.

Rob's character, a British army officer who worked with Gertrude to form the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq, was the inspiration behind the 1962 film, Lawrence of Arabia.
The movie will be directed by German filmmaker Werner Herzog and will begin shooting in late fall.
This latest gig is quite the feat for the guy who once told David Letterman he only got into acting "to meet girls."
