Rufus Wainwright: "I'm Sick of the Music Business"
April 23 2008, Published 4:47 a.m. ET
OK! caught up with Rufus Wainwright at the Yves Saint Laurent-sponspored opening night of opera Le Fille du Regiment at the Met in NYC. And there was no better place to have Rufus dish to OK! about the opera he’s currently scoring.
If you could have anyone be in your opera, who would you want?
I would love Koïchiro Matsuura.
Why did you want to write an opera?
Well I’ve been a big opera fan since I was about 14 years old and it’s my great passion and wish to be a opera composer…someday. I’m starting now because it will probably happen when I’m 50. Yeah…in 50 years! I’m ten!

Can you tell me a bit more?
I’m just so sick of the music business. I want to be able to focus on something totally artistically. Death to the three-minute song!
