Secrets from the Lipstick Jungle Set, Part II
Feb. 1 2008, Published 1:00 p.m. ET
The premiere of Lipstick Jungle is just a mere six days away. If you’re anything like me, you might find yourself pausing the DVR every time Robert Buckley comes on screen. The former model turned actor plays Kirby Atwood, the 20-something lover of married publishing executive Nico Reilly (played by Kim Raver). In many scenes, Rob’s wardrobe doesn’t amount to more than a well-placed bowl of fruit. That was enough to get me to get him on our couch.
Were you born with this body, or did you have to work for it?
I had a little junk in the trunk. I actually turned down my first pool party in sixth grade and my ?dad made me go. I hit puberty at 23 1/2.
What do you do now to stay in such incredible shape?
I stay motivated by the knowledge that 10 million people will see me ?half-naked. I go to the gym pretty regularly. I like to run. Lifting ?is more the maintenance side of things.?
Tell us a little about your character, Kirby.
Kirby is a photographer’s assistant.?He and Nico really hit it off. There’s a genuine connection between her and Kirby over what she’s not getting from her husband in the way he looks at her and cares for her and touches her. He’s like a? homewrecker with a heart.
You're originally from Los Angeles. Have you adjusted to living in New York City?
I've found a whole new set of muscles in my feet and ankles. I? walk everywhere. I’m directionally challenged, so I’ll just take a map and get? lost. On the way to the gym I walk through? Chinatown and Little Italy. It’s like I get to walk through three? continents on my way there.

Has Kim Raver brought her sons to the set?
Her son Leo is the cutest baby and he's quite possibly the world’s tallest. He’s literally like 3 ½ feet tall and he's only four months old. She’s superwoman. When she has downtime, she’s with the baby or volunteering. She never tires.
Kirby gets ballsy when he gives Nico his number. Have you ever done anything like that?
It is a pretty bold move. I love that this guy is at a fancy party with a sharpie in his pocket! I can say I’ve never pulled a stunt like that. That’s the fun about this character, living out things I would never have the audacity to try.
Lipstick Jungle premieres Thursday, Feb. 7 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
