Simon Cowell Wants Britney Spears on ‘The X Factor’: “I’m Fascinated By Her”

Now that The X Factor has completely dissected their cast, Simon Cowell and the rest of the show’s creators are trying to find the perfect replacements for former mentors Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones.

And number one on Simon’s list seems to be Ms. Britney Spears, whom he believes has always and will always have “star power.” 

“I’m fascinated by Britney. The fact that she’s one of the most talked about — not just pop stars — but people in the world today, means that you’ve got this star power,” Simon told Billy Bush on his show when asked about the rumors of the Britney joining The X Factor. Simon stressed that he could neither confirm nor deny whom he and the show’s producers have spoken with, but he added, “This girl has got resilience. I would think that if she’s managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, the show would be a walk in the park.”

“I would be fascinated to hear what she had to say,” Simon explained. “She’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial, there’s a reason for that.”

As for whether the rumors are true that another superstar, Janet Jackson, will be joining Simon and L.A. Reid as a mentor, Simon said, “Would she be a good judge? Yes.”
