An extended preview for our beloved little-musical-show-that-could, Smash, has arrived and we must say, it looks fantastic!

Here, we get a good look at Jennifer Hudson's Veronica Moore, a Tony-winning actress who complicates the lives of Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) and Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty), who were forever struggling for the spotlight last season.

About last season... it definitely had some problems. We loved a lot about Smash, but knew a lot could be better. We were thrilled when news came that it would be picked up for another season and were not at all surprised by the great number of cast and crew changes that were announced shortly thereafter.

Based on this preview, it looks like new showrunner Josh Safran's ideas were good ones! There is a momentum throughout the scenes previewed here that is reminiscent of Smash's debut episode. We have a feeling J-Hud is going to be a terrific addition, as is Debra Messing's former Will & Grace co-star, Sean Hayes. Most exciting to us though? It appears that Karen has a backbone this season! They obviously wanted us to know that, since it's on full display within five seconds of the vid!
