OK!: We know you can't give too much away, but what can you say about the mid-season finale?

Tyler Blackburn: It's definitely action-packed. There are a lot of questions answered about the origins of the pact that’s on Ravenswood and these teens specifically, but also dealing with present problems we have with Miranda’s predicament of sort of being in this limbo space. In this last episode she met her mother and Caleb and Olivia and Luke start to realize maybe it’s not exactly what Miranda had hoped for so they have to come together and not only figure out more about this curse but also save Miranda. We shot in a really great location. It was an old, old house in New Orleans and they turned it into a very scary haunted house. We had quite a few scenes in there and it was very spooky.

OK!: Has there been a scene that has freaked you out to film?

TB: A little bit. A lot of the stuff that ends up being shown is very technical or is CGI so we have to use our imaginations. It’s not easy to get too freaked out but I think the scariest thing is we’re shooting in a lot of locations that are very old or they have these sordid pasts. We’ve shot in an abandoned children’s hospital, we’ve shot at this very old house that had a lot of deaths in it. We all definitely make a point to learn about the locations. That’s been the creepiest aspect of it.

OK!: Have you done any of the ghost tours in New Orleans?

TB: Honestly, you just need to walk around the city. We’ve been shooting in cemeteries. And you can google information on locations and then find them on your own. So I haven’t done any organized tours but I’ve seen some of the more notable locations in New Orleans that are supposedly haunted. If you walk around the French Quarter  they have for rent signs on different houses and apartments and underneath them it says haunted or not haunted.

OK!: I love that it’s a selling point whether or not a place is haunted.

TB: The energy of the city is a little bit heavier. It’s fun but you walk around the streets, especially in the French Quarter, and you can sort of see those little bits of heaviness. You know that a lot has happened in this city.

OK!: All of your PLL fans want to know when we’ll see Hanna on the show again?

TB: Not face to face, but in this next episode Caleb and Hanna have a phone conversation which is actually a really beautiful, great scene. It’s not heavy. It’s actually really romantic and cute. I think the audience will appreciate that. They actually had us talking on the phone for real while we were filming it which was a really unique way of doing it. It made it more realistic. She is coming next week to shoot scenes for episode number 10. So she’ll be in the episode face to face with Caleb.

Catch the Ravenswood midseason finale tonight at 8 PM on ABC Family.
