The Upcoming Genesis Awards Plans for Gourmet Vegan Menu

Over the past few months, celebrities have come together to mark their hard work in music and film at a plethora of big award shows from the Grammys to the coveted Academy Awards, but this weekend the stars are set to gather together for a different reason - to recognize their public efforts against animal cruelty at the 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards. While a gourmet meal is crucial at any big show throughout awards season, what would the Genesis Awards be without a delicious, five star all-vegan menu?

Without using any animal products for what he likes to call “The Oscars for Animals,” Chef Tal Ronnen is keeping up with the competition by creating a lavish dinner for Genesis guests, including Sex and the City's Kristin Davis.

“We are indebted to Chef Tal for bringing his renowned culinary talents to our 800-plus audience at the 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards. His delicious vegan cuisine proves that good food can be served and enjoyed without cruelty to animals,” executive producer of the annual animal rights banquet, Beverly Kaskey, explained of the prepared meal.

With other honored guests such funny woman Betty White, Bones' Emily Deschanel Leona Lewis, and Valerie Bertinelli invited to Saturday’s gala to test out the acclaimed feast, Chef Tal had big shoes to fill while organizing his menu.

Proving that good food can be made cruelty-free, Tal plans to serve a three course meal consisting of a baby arugula and faro salad with anjou pear, and a chanterelle dusted gardein chick’n with chanterelle mushroom ravioli.

But what is the best part of any meal?  The last course, dessert! Diners can chose between a maple vegan “cheesecake" with graham cracker crust and sugared berries or a vegan tiramisu to refresh their palettes.

The 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards, presented by The Humane Society of the United States, is set to take place Saturday, March 19 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in L.A.
