Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walked off the show last week after Bill said, "“Muslims killed us on 9/11.”

Reflecting on their actions, Whoopi and Joy defended their actions to Barbara, USA Today reports.

"We speak about standing up to bigotry, so I stood up," Joy said and Whoopi added, "I hit my saturation point."

As to whether the whole argument was stage, Sherri Shepherd said on the record it was "not staged." However, she did explain that Bill "was really energized" and said during a break "I'm really going to  make your ratings."

So Sherri believes Bill "knew what he was doing."

After the ladies had their chance to speak, Barbara gave them her lecture.

"This is a country that's full of rage... We must be able to have conversations — that means all of us — without fury, without rage, without screaming, without obscenities, without walking off."

"It's very dramatic," she added. "People love train wrecks. People want us to do more of it because it's good for the ratings."

However, Barbara doesn't want the ladies to play into that.

"You don't walk out of your own home. ... We are used to Bill O'Reilly. He loves this. He loves to pull your chain. He loves to get you angry. This is just what he wanted. … I don't have to tell you the regard I have for you," she said, "... having said that, I think it was the wrong thing to do."
