Was Aretha Franklin Banned From Whitney Houston's Funeral?

Although Whitney Houston's funeral was full of celebs — like Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and music mogul Clive Davis — paying their respects, one A-lister was noticeably absent: Aretha Franklin.

According to GossipCop, an original report in The New York Daily News indicated Aretha "angered" Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, with a few comments she made during an interview on Today. OK! NEWS: WHITNEY HOUSTON BURIED NEXT TO HER FATHER AT FAIRVIEW CEMETERY Aretha told Al Roker, "Parents have to really talk to their children before they leave home. They have to make sure when they leave home, they have all the right things. She left home with all the right things, but she just kind of lost her way along the way." Well, based on that comment, Hollywood Life suggests her implication of drug comments may have resulted in getting banned from the funeral by Cissy. Considering the funeral was held on Saturday, later that night Aretha performed at a sold-out concert in NYC and mentioned she wanted to "stay off her leg" as much as possible until the concert. Aretha's rep told the Daily News she was incapacitated from performing throughout the weekend.
