Elizabeth Taylor will always have Oscar-winning actress tied to her name. The silver screen siren died today at the age of 79, but her legacy will live on in her impressive body of work. The icon won two Best Actress Academy Awards during her extensive career, the first in 1961 for Butterfield 8 and the second for Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf?
Dame Elizabeth made her film debut back in 1942, in There’s One Born Every Minute, when she was just 10 years old. She went on to captivate American audiences with her fiery on-screen presence and captured the Academy with her gifted acting prowess.

In Butterfield 8, Elizabeth played a fashionable Manhattan beauty who was "part model, part call-girl — and all man-trap."
In 1967, Elizabeth starred opposite her then husband Richard Burton in Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf?, winning her second best actress Oscar for her role as as a middle-aged, alcoholic house wife in the film adaptation of Edward Albee's play.
