Alec Baldwin kicked off the season premiere of Saturday Night Live with a bang, setting the record for hosting the show sixteen times and was even joined by comedian Steve Martin, a close runner up also as a multiple-time host.
“I am passing Steve Martin in setting a new record in hosting SNL,” the 30 Rock star joked in his monologue before stating that if it was a competition, “I won!”
To the audience’s surprise, Steve made a guest appearance to join Alec on stage and kept the laughs rolling.
“I was just passing by the studio in full makeup and I heard that you were breaking my hosting record and while I am happy for you, I wanted to make sure that you were doing it without the use of steroids of performance enhancing drugs,” the comedian joked on stage during SNL’s 37th season premiere.
