Adult star Alix Lynx, 37, has chosen to freeze her eggs rather than put her career on pause to become a mother before she's ready.
Instead of having a baby simply because she has reached an age when society tells women it's "time," Lynx said she is giving herself the freedom to decide on motherhood later.
Alix Lynx Isn't Ready for Motherhood

The adult star said she isn't ready to become a mother.
Lynx, who has been in the adult industry for 14 years, acknowledged that having a baby right now would dramatically change her life.
"Having a baby right now would turn my life inside out and upside down. I'm working, I'm building my career, and I still feel like I'm in the building phase," Lynx explained to OK!
"If I had a child right now simply because I'm at an age where people think I should, it would completely derail my career. I'm incredibly career-focused at the moment and my priorities are different — and I think that's OK," the creator added.
She Doesn't Know If She'll Ever Want Children

Alix Lynx called egg freezing her 'insurance plan' for the future.
While Lynx said motherhood isn't something she wants at this point in her life, she also isn't comfortable saying she will never want children.
That uncertainty was part of the reason she chose to freeze her eggs.
"If you asked me right now if I wanted to have a child, the answer would be no. But how am I going to feel in a handful of years? I genuinely don't know... For me, this is about giving that future me options rather than forcing present-day me to make a decision I'm not ready to make," Lynx shared.
She sees the decision as an "insurance plan" rather than a commitment to eventually have a child.

Financial Security Doesn't Mean She's Ready

The 37-year-old admitted she still wanted to travel and enjoy her freedom.
Lynx said being financially secure isn't the only factor she considers when thinking about motherhood.
She wants to reach additional milestones before potentially taking on the responsibility of raising a child.
Among those goals are buying a home and establishing additional income streams that would provide greater financial security.
The creator also wants to know that she could afford the childcare and support she would need, especially because she doesn't live near her family.
"I still want to travel. I want to be selfish. I want to live my life for me. I don't want to be responsible for another human being right now. I have a dog — that's enough!" she detailed.
'Who Made These Rules?'

The creator said women no longer have to follow a traditional life blueprint.
Lynx said her decision has already prompted criticism online, including comments from people questioning whether she is "still" able to have children because she is 37.
"When a woman says, 'Actually, I don't want that right now,' people react like, 'What do you mean? That's what you're supposed to do.' My response is: who f------ says? Who made these rules?" she questioned.
"You don't have to follow the blueprint anymore. I really see life as a choose-your-own-adventure," the adult star said.
