Moving on or going backwards? Alex Rodriguez is finding solace in the midst of his breakup with Jennifer Lopez in none other than his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis — only days after the Hustlers actress' ex Ben Affleck was spotted leaving her home.
On Wednesday, May 5, Rodriguez attended an event hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of America with his daughters, Natasha and Ella, for his induction into their hall of fame. Also in attendance — and raising a few eyebrows — was his ex wife Cynthia, who is featured in pictures that Rodriguez uploaded to his Instagram on Wednesday night.
Rodriguez was married to Scurtis from 2002 until their divorce in 2008. Together they have two daughters, Natasha, born in 2004, and Ella, born in 2008, but things went south when Scurtis claimed Rodriguez was cheating on her with multiple women while she was pregnant with their daughter Ella. (As OK! previously reported, J.Lo had to keep a close eye on her man after rumors swirled that he was linked to Southern Charm beauty Madison LeCroy.)
Scurtis stated in the divorce documents that "emotional abandonment" due to "extra-marital affairs and other marital misconduct" by Rodriguez was the cause of their breakup, while Rodriguez simply cited a "broken marriage." The two parties eventually reached a settlement.
Rodriguez and Scurtis found themselves at odds once again in 2018 when Rodriguez wanted his child support payment to be brought down to $115,000 a month. They have since seemed to bury the hatchet with them both attending their daughter's graduation, along with J.Lo, in May of 2019 — but the timing of their most recent reunion seems a bit questionable given that the "If You Had My Love" singer has been in contact with ex-fiancé Affleck.
OK! was the first to report that the two, known as Bennifer to fans and followers, have reconnected amid J-Rod's demise. "Ben and Jen have been talking in private a lot over the past few months, and now the world knows just how close the two of them are again," a source previously told OK!. "When things started to get bad with Alex, Jen turned to Ben for advice.”
Lopez seems to be finding comfort in her old flame, since it's been reported that the two are enjoying some QT together at J.Lo's place in recent days.
Lopez and Rodriguez started dating in February 2017 and got engaged in March 2019. After rumors of a split made headlines, the pair said they were working through things and were even spotted doing damage control in the Dominican Republic, where Lopez was shooting her upcoming film Shotgun Wedding. However, the pair split officially in April, telling the TODAY show that they are "better as friends."
