After Ben Affleck gushed over his former fiancée Jennifer Lopez in a recent interview, praising her work ethic and youthful glow, fans were shocked that the exes are still friends. However, OK! has exclusively learned that Lopez wasn’t surprised at all.
“InStyle asked Jennifer who they should talk to about her for the cover story. It was Jen who gave them Ben’s name,” a source tells OK!. “Ben and Jen have been talking in private a lot over the past few months, and now the world knows just how close the two of them are again. When things started to get bad with Alex [Rodriguez], Jen turned to Ben for advice.”
The insider continued: “She is the rebound girl when it comes to love. After she broke up with Ben, Jen went running back to the arms of Marc Anthony. If she breaks up with Alex, it makes sense she will go running back to Ben.”
As OK! previously reported, Affleck had nothing but amazing things to say about his former love on the record (it should be noted that comments from Rodriguez in the InStyle piece were noticeably absent). And now, a source says that behind the scenes the Gone Girl alum is whispering even more beautiful words directly to Lopez.

“It would surprise no one that really knows Jen to see her get back with Ben. When Jen is hurt she finds comfort. Which is exactly what Ben’s providing at the moment,” adds a pal. “He is like a comfortable pair of old jeans that you can’t throw away.”
Affleck and Lopez met while filming the critically panned rom-com Gigli. The two got engaged in November 2002 and enjoyed a rather long engagement before calling off their wedding four days ahead of the big event and eventually split in 2004.
The rumors of the exes leaning on one another comes on the heels of hiccups in Lopez’s relationship with MLB legend Rodriguez. The former New York Yankees player was recently thrown into a Southern Charm scandal when he was accused of FaceTiming and DM'ing blonde bombshell Madison LeCroy. However, LeCroy has remained adamant that all of their conversations were "innocent" and that he did not "physically cheat" on Lopez with her.
After the shocking rumors, Rodriguez immediately flew down to the Dominican Republic — where Lopez is working on a film — to hit the refresh button on their relationship. However, as OK! previously reported, J.Lo is keeping close watch on her man. "No more scandals or they're finished," an OK! source dished.
