'All That' Alum Christy Knowings Dead at 46: What to Know About the Nickelodeon Star's Health Before Her Death

Nickelodeon star Christy Knowings, who appeared on three seasons of All That, has died at the age of 46.

The late 1990s star joined the cast of the sketch comedy series after appearing in the unaired 1997 Nickelodeon pilot And Now This. She went on to spend three seasons on All That, appearing in more than 30 episodes.

On August 13, TMZ reported that Knowings had died two days earlier after being placed on life support at a Los Angeles-area hospital. A family member said the All That alum was hospitalized on August 7 after suffering an asthma attack that caused brain damage.

She remained on life support until August 11, when her family made the difficult decision to withdraw life-sustaining treatment.

"Christy was a multi talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work," a representative told the Daily Mail.

Her aunt Tyleah Joseph also confirmed Knowings' death in a statement on Facebook.

Knowings' fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson reacted to the news in an Instagram post, writing, "Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!"

Knowings wore many hats throughout her appearance on All That, including Penny Lane, Jessica in the "Whateverrr!!!" sketch with Amanda Bynes and Winter Wonders from What Do You Do? What Do You Do?

In a 2019 interview with Bustle, Knowings said her favorite moment on set was when she began playing Gloria Bankhead in Season 6.

"She was an over-the-top Martha Stewart," she described the role. "I had never played any character like her! I just remember being on set and being her all-day long. Everybody loved it!"

Knowings continued, 'The writers, the stage managers, everybody was just like, 'Hi Gloria!' Gloria Bankhead was my favorite character to play. She was on set like that all the time. It was fun to just be in character like that, even when the cameras weren't rolling. It's what I'd do constantly."

After All That, she appeared in the 2009 film Mother and Child, for which she also received a writing credit. Her final on-screen credits were three appearances on Sesame Street between 2009 and 2011.

In 2020, she released the folk single "To the World."
