Ben Affleck put his rekindled romance with Jennifer Lopez on hold to celebrate Father's Day with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their son Samuel.
On Sunday, June 20, the 49-year-old was snapped retrieving a reptile habitat box from the car as the Alias alum, 49, and Samuel looked on. (It’s unclear whether the new purchase was a gift for Affleck or for the 9-year-old!)
Affleck and Garner exchanged vows in 2005 before announcing their divorce in 2015, one day after they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. However, the two — who also share Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12 — have remained friendly coparents.
In 2020, the Way Back star became emotional while opening up about the pain that came along with ending his marriage.
"I never thought that I was gonna get divorced. I didn't want to get divorced. I didn’t want to be a divorced person. I really didn't want to be a split family with my children,” Affleck admitted to Diane Sawyer during an appearance on Good Morning America. “And it upset me because it meant I wasn’t who I thought I was. And that was so painful and so disappointing in myself.”
Garner has echoed the same sentiment. "It was a real marriage," the Yes Day star told Vanity Fair in 2016. "It wasn’t for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work."
They've both since moved on: Affleck is currently dating Lopez, 51, while Garner is dating CaliBurger CEO John Miller.
It may not be long before two of the most important women in Affleck's life meet for a face-to-face. As OK! previously reported, the Hustlers star, 51, "has already contacted Jen to organize a sit-down, but it's going to take some persuading — Jen's still a bit skeptical about Bennifer 2.0 and worries about the children being exposed to any unnecessary romantic dysfunction."
