Carly Simon and her ex-husband James Taylor welcomed two children during their turbulent marriage.
The "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" hitmaker married Taylor in 1972, just months after they formally met in April 1971, when she opened for Cat Stevens at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. They called it quits in 1983 after their union was marred by infidelity Taylor's drug addiction.
"I would say that the relationship is very resolved from James' point of view, which makes it clearly impossible for me to have a relationship with him because he's put down an iron curtain," Simon told Salon in 2015. "But it's been very hard to raise children without having their father to talk to."
Simon was also married to Jim Hart from 1987 to 2007.
Here's everything to know about Simon and Taylor's two children.
Sarah Maria 'Sally' Taylor

Carly Simon and James Taylor share two children.
Sarah Maria "Sally" Taylor, Carly and James' first child, was born on January 7, 1974, in New York City.
She followed in her parents' footsteps by writing songs as a teen. However, it was not until surviving a near-death plane crash in Peru that then-20-year-old Sally decided to release her debut album.
"If I survive, I want to make music, and I want to have kids," she said of the experience in a June 2018 interview with The New York Times.
She released her first studio album, Tomboy Bride, in 1999, performed with a five-piece band for several years before retiring from the road in 2003. Her other two studio albums are Apt. #65 and Shotgun.
Sally then settled down in Boston with her husband, Dean Bragonier, with whom she shares one child.
She went on to work as an educator at Berklee College of Music. In 2012, she founded arts and communication nonprofit Consenses, which is inspired by her family's dyslexia diagnoses.
"Just like Tomboy Bride came to me, Consenses has arrived," she wrote on her website. "It's been crouching in the shadows since [I lived in] Colorado hiding out like an expensive mobile made of dancing amethysts waiting for some dawn light to shine on it…"
While pursuing her dreams, her mom reportedly helped Sally "find [her] own process and [her] own way."
"I think I did pick up her vulnerability and openness," she said of Carly during an interview with Next Tribe. "Growing up with her, I didn't know that privacy was something people were innately privileged to have. I thought everyone told everything about themselves like mom did."

Benjamin Simon 'Ben' Taylor

Carly Simon's children are also musicians.
Carly and James welcomed their second child, son Benjamin Simon "Ben" Taylor, on January 22, 1977.
In an interview with journalist Jae Ha Kim in 2003, Ben opened up what it felt like having the "You Belong to Me" singer as his mother.
"I was always a good 25 percent bigger than anyone in my school, so no one ever said anything about how hot she was to me," he said.
When he was asked to pick between Carly and James, he responded, "Impossible to choose one or the other – Do you feel like eating or breathing? You need both to survive."
Ben also pursued a career in the music industry, performing with his father at several shows and releasing six studio albums so far. He dropped his most recent album, Clouds in the Dirt, in 2024.
