Apart from Danny Masterson having to deal with the multiple lawsuits filed against him, getting ready to say goodbye to his Hollywood Hills mansion has become another one of his priorities.
The That 70's Show alum isn't exactly selling his home by choice, as he lost a recent lawsuit on August 10 against his mortgage holders, leaving him on the hook for $1.995 million owed on the estate.
Instead of handing over the hefty paycheck, Masterton decided to put his abode — which is located near Scientology’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre — on the market for an asking price of $6.995 million, Scientology expert Tony Ortega first reported via The Underground Bunker.
The scientologist — who has been accused on multiple accounts of rape dating back to the early 2000s— reportedly claimed he didn't need to pay the mortgage on his mansion because of the “fatally flawed” paperwork that was based on “false information." In fact, the embattled Hollywood star believed he was owed $5 million in damages, according to the order to dismiss by California Judge Dean D. Pregerson.
The New York Post reported that the sale wouldn't impact his $3.3 million bond arrangement, which has kept Masterson, who pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape, out of jail ahead of his November trial. If found guilty, Masterson could serve up to 45 years in prison.
Masterson, 45, and his 41-year-old wife, Bijou Phillips, have reportedly been residing in their other home in Santa Ynez, Calif. He rented out the Hollywood Hills estate in 2007 for $2.995 million, with a $1.995 million 30-year mortgage, meaning he would've had to pay $9,000-per-month.
