Hannah, 60, who tied the knot with the rocker, 75, in 2018, "never got over [John’s] death," spills the source, adding that the actress — who dated the political scion on and off until their split in 1994 — often pores over scrapbooks of their time together.

"She seems haunted by her memories and wonders what could have been had their romance endured a bit longer." (John began dating wife Carolyn shortly after their split.) That "doesn’t sit well" with Young, the source adds. "He's had just about all he can take. Daryl insists she loves her life with him, but John Jr. will always be the elephant in the room."

Kennedy Jr. and Hannah were on and off for six years. "She often wonders whether they ever would’ve found their way back to each other," shares the source.

The official investigation of the crash by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) revealed that the plane crashed due to spatial distortion which descended over water at night. Kennedy Jr. was only certified to fly under visual flight rules and didn't hold an instrument rating. The complications in the weather were also said to be factors contributing to the crash.
